Gerald Clarke lights Seaton Fire Beacon

Gerald Clarke lights Seaton Fire Beacon

Over 1000 beacons were lit across the UK at 7.00 pm on 11 November 2018 to commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War.

Villages of Seaton, Thorpe by Water and Bisbrooke gathered at the top of the Glaston Road to watch Gerald Clarke, one of the elders of the village, light our new beacon which was a huge basket on top of a 4 metre telegraph pole.

Thanks to Gerald and John Mayfield, also pictured, for lighting the Beacon; to John Mayfield and Robin Clarke for erecting the beacon; and, to Tom Joule for paying for the beacon and allowing it to be placed on his land where it could be see for miles. The event was a great success.
